Harsh puppy bites?

My puppy is 11 weeks old.. she has REALLY sharp teeth, and she a problem of biting people. Sometimes they are just playful bites, and we know she is just playing, so we let her. But, other times she bites very hard, and makes me bleed sometimes. Today, I was sitting down, and she lay down in my lap, I started petting her and she jumped up at me and bit me in the nose, she bit VERY hard, and she wouldn't let go, or lose her grip. Everyone kept screaming "NO! HOLLY! Bad girl!" but she wouldn't listen. We tried pushing her off, but she wouldn't get off, Eventually it hurt so bad, that I just hit her on her side, and she let go. I don't know how to stop these harsh puppy bites? I can't put up with her teeth anymore.

Harsh puppy bites?
First of all, by letting her bite sometimes you are telling her that it is ok that she's doing this. Obviously it's not so stop confusing her and consistantly start correcting her whenever she does it whether it hurts or not.

Try pinching and twisting her lips when she does it, and yelp really loud to scare her and to teach her bite inhibition which she usually learns from other puppies.

Be consistant, and when she's biting stop her, and then give her something better like a toy that she's supposed to chew on. Good luck!
Reply:You are right, puppies don't know any better. It takes time, but you need to teach her that biting is NOT ok.

When she bites you or your clothing, yelp loudly then ignore her for a few minutes. This is how puppies learn from each other. Be consistent, and within a few days to a few weeks, you should notice a decline in hard bites.

Keep it up, and whatever you do, do not hit her or smack her with anything. This could lead to aggression problems when she is older. If you find that she just isn't getting the idea, then you need to consut a professional trainer.
Reply:When she bites a person that person needs to yip or say "ouch" and then ignore her for 5 to 10 minutes. Start playing again, and as soon as she nips do it again. Eventually she'll learn that no biting means she actually gets to play, while biting will cause you to ignore her.

Keep this constant, NEVER let her get away with even soft play nips else she'll think it's ok.
Reply:Every time she bites, hard or not, hit her, moderately hard, on her side, and yell in her ear. Kepp it consistent. don't stop, even once, i'll take a while, but eventualy, she'll learn. Good luck with it.
