When/How can I feed my puppy dog food?

My friend's dog just had puppies about a month ago and she gave me one. I've had Pocky for about 3 days now. I've been feeding it baby formula and milk replacer, I fed her the milk replacer for two days until it ran out and now it's drinking the formula again. The formula is running low and the owner said it should be able to eat puppy food. I bought the 'nature's best' for puppies at Petco, the worker recommended it to me. And there's a 30 day money back guareentee (or was it a week). Anyways, I'm not sure that Pocky will/can eat it. Sometimes when she licks/bites me I can feel it's teeth and there are like a lot of blank spots and I'm afraid it might hurt her. So is it safe to feed it the food or is there another method, like crushing it or mixing it with water or something. o__o; I don't know. Thank you in advance. :]

When/How can I feed my puppy dog food?
You should keep it on a schedule feed in the morning and at night. You should feed Canidea or Innova And put it in water and warm it up so it is nice and mushy and warm. Or better yet Make home cooked meals or feed it raw meat. Raw meat is better then any of that Bag food junk. The dry food is when you don't have time on your hands to make some good ol raw meat. Feed the Raw meat when it gets older.
Reply:when she is hungry
Reply:You can soak it in a little bit of water. My mom is a retired (licensed) dog trainer and breeder, but you need to ween her slowly.
Reply:Canned food may be the best way to go, but check and make sure the food didn't get a call back, or your dog may become very ill. You can also try to make the nuggets smaller by smashing them with a hammer.

It really works!!!
Reply:You can soak the kibble in formula to make it mushy if you are concerned, but make sure you always have food in the bowl until she is 12 weeks old - that way she can eat when she wants to and explore the food on her own terms.

There are a lot of good foods out there, but make sure you are feeding a food labeled for puppies and only puppies. If you look on the back panel, it will read something like "this food has been evaluated to meet the minimum requirements for growth/puppy stage" If it says "all life stages" or "adult dogs" then it is not acutal puppy food. A good choice is Science Diet Puppy/Growth formula. They will give you choices for small puppies, big puppies, medium puppies and there is also a natural type called Natures Best.

Good luck with your new pup! You have years of fun ahead of you!
