Absolutely! If your puppy spends time indoors, you may find one or more stuck in the carpet, a sock, or its favorite toy.
Like humans, dogs have two sets of teeth in their lives. The 28 baby teeth erupt through the gums between the third and sixth weeks of age. Puppies do not have to grind much food, so they do not have molars. Puppy teeth begin to shed and be replaced by permanent adult teeth at about four months of age. Although there is some variation in breeds, most adult dogs have 42 teeth, with the molars coming last, at about six or seven months.
The order of tooth replacement is incisors first, then canines (fangs), and finally premolars. The teething period can be frustrating; the puppy clamps his mouth on everything he can reach, from body parts to Johnny's $80 sneakers, in an attempt to relieve the discomfort. Teething can be accompanied by drooling, irritability, and fluctuations in appetite.
Do puppies loose their baby teeth?
yes most definitley. (thank god cause they are so sharp!)
Reply:how do you think they get there big teeth?
or do you think?
Reply:Yes, but usually you don't even know, because they swallow them.
Reply:Yes.....and it's kinda fun to find them every so often on the floor (or in your shoes he's just ruined)
Reply:Yes, they usually swallow them.
Reply:Yes that is why they chew everything! They are just like children just age faster
Reply:If you'll go up to the top and do a quick search, you'll find that this question has been asked and answered probably a few hundred times already....and it wouldn't have cost you 5 points. :-)
(Yes, they do.)
Reply:yes they do. my little dog lost all of hers including her baby canine teeth. they grow back.
Reply:Yes, just like humans
Reply:Yes puppies loose their baby teeth. I have several that my older Chihuahua lost and afew that my younger Chihuahua lost. Most people do keep them, but most wont admit it. People who find the baby teeth of puppies are lucky, most puppies eat the teeth along with their food. Or at least that is what my dogs vet said.
Reply:Yes, puppies lose their baby teeth, but it won't be a big deal because they either swallow them or cough them out. They don't teeth for months and cry like human babies do, though they DO chew!!
You'll want to puppy-proof whatever is within reach. No electrical cords exposed, heating blanket cords, shoes, open closets, etc. I think we went through 4 electric blankets over the years... the blankets were fine, but the cords got dog chewed.
We got through our rottweiler's puppy chewing by giving her a multitude of Kong chewtoys, rawhide chewbones, and Nylabones. I know, rawhide's controversial, but she adored it and had no problems. It was far better than repairing the plasterboard walls and corners of my kitchen cabinets which she had also decided were edible.
