i had finished leaving the park and i had to stop by at my aunts house to pick something up (i was with my two brothers and my sister and my puppy Phoebe) when we arrived at my aunts house we all got off to go inside her house (she lives in a ranch) and she has a german shepard and a labador retriever (both adult dogs) and i had left the car door a little open so my terrier mix puppy Phoebe could get some fresh air. Well i realized that was a huge mistake when my Phoebe jumped out of the car and immediately the german shepard pounced on my puppy (Phoebe) and locked her teeth on Pheobe's neck and started pulling back and forth. i didnt even think about it for a second i quickly rushed to help Phoebe (Pheobe is only a quarter of the german shepard's size so she was helpless and yelping) i grabbed the german shepards jaws and unlocked her grasp on phoebes neck luckily i had reacted fast so no blood was shed. My brothers and my sister were inside my aunts house when this happened...
Yesterday my terrier puppy was attacked by a german shepard!! and it was my fault :(?
your aunt lives on a farm so mbay the sheperd is used to chasing around rabits or other small critters,so it mebay was mistaken identity or like you said the speperd does not like other dogs so it was just protecting his house/farm.
in the dogs eyes your pup was tresspassing that probely why hew attack her........
Reply:And the question is? Or are you saying you learned a good lesson yesterday?
Reply:I'm with DP no question but did you learn something by leaving your dog in the car?
Reply:Or are you asking for someone to tell you it wasn't your fault?
Accidents happen. If she's ok, that's the main thing!
Reply:Yes it was your fault, dogs are territorial and the german shepherd was protecting his domain.
Sorry, if your pup comes away unscathed then count your blessings and your lesson learned.
If you were in a vehicle then you should of cracked your window for the fresh air.
If you wanted to introduce the pup to the other dogs you would need your Aunt's permission and help, she is their master and has any/all control of her dogs.
You are young and this is how we learn our lessons in life.
Reply:the reason why it happened was becuse your puppy was on the dogs terrioty and he got mad and wanted to show your pup whos boss but u reacted really fast and that was great your puppy doesnt known rankings like
big dog =strong little pup= weak just keep your dog away from the geman shepard nad you will do fine
Reply:German sheperds can be very territoral so that's why the german attacked your dog, but don't worry not all dogs are like that. Just be careful because now she may have a strong fear of other dogs so you'll have to help her adjust.
Reply:haven't you heard about babies dieing in a car well don't you think that your dog might have died too or some one could have stole it!!!!!!!!!! so what's the question and if the question is it my fault then yes because you are responsible for the dog
Reply:You should never leave a pet in a car, with the door open didn't you think your puppy might get out? You are lucky that your puppy wasn't killed! You can't blame the shepherd, your dog invaded it's territory. I have a shepherd and she is dog, cat and kid friendly. It is just a matter of how well socialized a dog is. If done properly, they might have become friendly with each other, but that was not the way for a first meeting to happen. Yes it was your fault.
