i have a new staffie - 'ted', about 12 weeks old, who was playing with my younger brother (10 years), my brother pulled the toy out of ted's mouth, and his front top left tooth broke off. there is a bit of blood that looks like it is coming from inside the part of the tooth still attached (which is most of it - only the tip - about 2-3 mm broke off).
i just wanted to know - is this really an issue? i know that puppie, like us humans loose thier baby teeth and grow adult teeth, but will it cause him pain or something untill the tooth grows back?
thanks everyone,
hooda
My Puppy just broke a tooth. is this an issue?
It needs a vet vist,if the pulp(bleeding part) of the teeth is visable,it can get infected.
Reply:believe it or not dogs loose teeth so they just need lots of chew toys to chew on.
Reply:If the tooth was ripped completely out, it should be fine. If it was BROKEN, then the puppy could be in a lot of pain. Have you ever had a broken tooth? The nerves on the inside are exposed and are REAAAAALLY sensitive. (Doesn' t feel very good.)
If the tooth is broken, get him/her to the vet asap. But if the whole tooth came out, you should try to put something like oragel on it because it might be uncomfortable if the tooth wasn't quite ready to come out yet.
Reply:Nah leave him in pain he'll be fine
Reply:if you are worried about pain give him alittle bit of baby advil
Reply:Call the vet, your dog may need to have the tooth pulled. A broken tooth can be very painful, especially if the nerve is exposed. You should follow your vet's advice about what to do.
Reply:take him to a vet the vet might be able to make it less painful for the dog ^_^
Reply:my god, dont listen to those who tell you to give your dog advil, orajel, unreal.the dog needs to see the vet, immediately! its uncomfortable and could become infected, just TAKE THE DOG TO THE VET!
