He's a 14 week old boxer-rottweiler mix and we crate him for an hour to an hour and a half a day. He doesn't like the crate obviously. What can we do to get him more comfortable with it. I noticed a couple of nights ago that the right side of his nose was rubbed raw and close to bleeding. I put some medicine on it and figured the cat just got him. Last night he ripped the same place on his nose again and broke his tooth in the process of trying to get out of the crate. Any suggestions?
My puppy broke a baby tooth and tore open his nose.?
Make the crate a "fun zone". Feed and water him in his crate every day; toss treats in there for him to find.
Start out small; put him in the crate while you cook dinner. Give him a kong toy (stuffed w/ p.b.) or a bully stick to enjoy while he waits to be let out.
Every time he enters the crate he should be given something FABULOUS to chew on. Soon, he will associate the crate with wonderful things!
Never use the crate for punishment. You need all his experiences to be positive.
The crate is a wonderful training tool; you will be very happy with your decision to crate train.

Reply:perhaps when you put him in the crate you could cover it with a blanket so he can relax.. or you could try playing the radio while he's in the crate until he gets used to it.. hope i helped
