Why does my puppy nibble me?

My five month old rat terrier puppy will sometimes use her front teeth to nibble at my skin, usually my chin or fingers and only when we are relaxing together; it doesn't hurt and is even kind of cute, but I wanted to know if this was just a quirk she has or if there was a possible reason she is doing this.

Why does my puppy nibble me?
Since she doesn't have fingers or thumbs, nibbling is just her way of showing affection. It shouldn't be encouraged, because it can eventually lead to biting during play, which is not a good outcome.

Reply:it's fine...she's just teething-all puppys do that
Reply:teething
Reply:because you taste good--- JUST KIDDING!

he is probably teething and getting in new teeth.
Reply:Its a puppy. Puppies like to nibble because they are just getting used to eveything
Reply:That's puppy talk for "let's play"...
Reply:her teeth might be bothering her or she might just be playing. try giving her a chew toy and see if she enjoys it, it might help. she also might be hungry.
Reply:Hmmm, don't know. Do you taste like kibble?
Reply:Animals do weird things like that idk but it would be interesting to know if there is a reason! =D Good Luck!
Reply:she loves you...or shes teethng my cat does that all the time and i sont know why still
Reply:there isnt anything wrong with your puppy, she is just a friendly dog, thats what it sounds like to me
Reply:when puppies teeth their getting their teeth sharper so they need to chew.
Reply:maybe for comfort cause it reminds him of nersing still
Reply:Do not allow her to mouth you at all....even if it's "cute" and doesn't hurt, you should discourage her from doing this. She is mouthing you because she is teething. Tell her no, and replace your fingers with a chew toy.
Reply:puppys nibble beacause as a puppy their teeth hurt and it feels good to bit things softly and if hes biting u hard i think u should leave him alone
Reply:git-r-done''
Reply:Your puppy is nibbling you b/c he need something to chew on for his teeth.Good Luck(you'll need it!!LOL)!
Reply:Your puppy is teething. He wants to try out his new teeth. If he bights too hard as it gets older, give him a bite on the ear a few times to let him know it hurts.
Reply:Don't worry..since she is young she is probably just teething, or it could be a play bite. I know a lot of dogs that do this even when they are much older. There is absolutly nothing to worry about at all..=]
Reply:Rats like to nibble :)
Reply:She's teething. Try getting her a chew toy.
Reply:its not so much as teething (or maybe it is)

anyway, puppys have nerves all around there boys that (say they grow need a certainthing to relax that one nerve

when they are theething, their actually trying to calm dne and get there nerves unstresed

k?

hope this helps
Reply:Shes teething...

and that's how they play with other pups
Reply:she/he is teething, it's teeth are growing so it makes them want to nibble on things because it feels good to their gums
Reply:teething and she is a puppy so maybe shes just looking to play with you.
Reply:I don't really know, but I'd always heard they're trying to "flea" you. Meaning trying the chew the fleas off you??? I don't know, but our Pugs do that to me too.
