Baby Teeth?

When do puppies loose their teeth? And can you tell if they do?

Baby Teeth?
From about 3 to 6 months they will lose their teeth. You usually won't notice when they fall out but when they start to come in you will know -- they will start chewing like crazy!! Make sure you have a lot of appropriate toys. lol

Also, sometimes the canines (the pointy teeth) will not fall out. You can just have them pulled out when they are under to get fixed.
Reply:They lose them up until they are 8 months old. They usually swallow themso you don't know. But sometimes when they're playing and chewing, one might fall on your floor. Or you may notice a toy is bloody. That is because they just lost a tooth. Give them ice to chew on when they do lose a tooth.
Reply:Yes they do loose their baby teeth. Most times you will not find them but will notice some missing.

They start about 4-6 months.
Reply:Right at 4 mos. They usually swallow their baby teeth, so you never see them actually, but you can tell by looking at their teeth where they are missing.
Reply:I can't quite remember when, I think its around 4 months or so, and the only way you can tell, is sometimes you'll find their baby canines laying around. It makes you feel like a proud parent when you fine em :) Sorry to disagree with the other folks here, but you usally won't find a missing spot in in their mouth like us, their teeth don't fal out until the adult one is almost completely in. If you catch it at the right time, you can see the one overlapping the other.
Reply:As a puppy grows the adult teeth grow in, just like with a child. A puppy does a lot of chewing when it is growing and needs a lot of rawhide bones to chew on or it will find other things to chew on - your shoes, your purse, your computer wires, your electric wires, you get the picture. You will find most teeth on the floor when they lose one (if you walk barefoot - in your foot). Puppy teeth are very sharp.
Reply:It's hard to see them when they come out cuz most of the time, the puppy swallows them or they get caught in a toy etc... They lose all their baby teeth in the first 6mo-1yr. I know that at 4 months old, you can look %26amp; see that their front 4 teeth are all new. If the puppy doesn't have them yet, then he is not that old. You also have to watch to make sure they lose all their baby teeth. They can 'retain' them %26amp; have to be pulled at your vets office.
Reply:You have alot of correct answers, above.

Be sure to watch for poor seeming appetite, as often they have a hard time eating. You can soften the kibble with a little warm water during this period.

I was showing a puppy, way back when I began showing.

He took second place in his puppy class.

I knew he was much better than the one that beat him, so after the showing, i asked the steward what was wrong with my pup. She said, he was very nice, but had no teeth! to show his bite...lol

Then, I realized that he hadn't been eating the treats I borought to help during the show, and I just thought he was being nervous...
