My puppy bites a lot how can I make him stop?

My puppy is 4 months and he bites a lot! These bites are not very aggressive but his little teeth are sharp and it doesn hurt when he bites. He is a Jack Russell/ Chihuahua mix and weighs only about 6 pounds. I try to yell "no" when he does it but he doesn't listen. Is there anything I can do to make him stop?

im not sure wat u can do if the dog doesnt like chew toys....... buy him a few different shapes of soft toys or give the puppy something soft to chew like and old pillow, a old blanket ... etc...
Reply:hes teething. sence he doesnt like chew toys i would buy him some pig ears. ive never seen a dog that didnt love them and they are safe unlike rawhide which cant be digested. they are hard enough that they will releive some of his teething troubles but you should be warned that if he has them too often he may get a loose stool
Reply:It's going to take time...he's only four months old. One technique that worked with my pets was to make a sound when they would bite me. The sound could be you saying, "ouch" in a sort-of high pitched tone, or gasping loudly. It supposed to mimic another animal's response in the wild...rather than saying, "no." Saying "no" could work though, with more consistency. Again, he's only four months old. Make sure that you do not reinforce his behavior by continuing to play with him. If he bites, say "NO" or gasp, then stop engaging with him at all.
Reply:rope bones work very well. if he gets out of control, try to put him on his but to make him submissive. That works with my dos when she barks constantly
Reply:if he isnt very aggressive maybe he is just playful biting. if he is biting playfully then there is a way to get him to stop. yelp "OW!!!" like it hurts a whole lot then ignore him as a punishment. just dont hit him. dont stop ignoring him even if he tries to get ur attention. this technique is pretty effective it works almost always.

also if he is 4 months old he could be in his teething age where they lose baby teeth and get new ones. this could be a painful experience for ur puppy so try giving something to chew on even if he does not like the chew toys that u give him.

try some new or different kinds of chew toys, experiment with then, see which ones he likes. also him raw meaty bones to him, never cooked ones.

if he is in his teething age, frozen rubber chew rings or toys might help, also like a sock filled with ice or stuff like that, just make sure u dont leave him by himself with the ice sock cz he might bite it opend and choke or something.

u can look online its real helpful, google it or go here:

Reply:Hi Jen:

I suggest you check out the website before. This program totally transformed my dog. He used to be aggressive as well but not anymore.

Good luck to you!
Reply:the reason he doesnt understand No is because it is a commonly used word and after a while he thinks no means yes. to stop the biting-if it hurts- dont yell oww it doesnt help. if youve ever watched puppies playing if one puppy bites the other it will yelp! it does this to say ouch thats not funny that really hurts. so when your dog is biting make a high pitch yelp! he should stop. when he stops cross your arms and turn your back on him.you are no longer interesting.you are boring.dont even look at him keep your back on him. to escape(rather than running) focus your eyes straight ahead

(noot on the dog) and with crossed arms walk slowly keeping your back on him sounds crazy but it works
Reply:He's teething get him some rawhide bones to chew on. It will always help with the shape teeth
Reply:Bite him Back.... that's what i did, no Joke....
