My puppy is playing with rocks and digging them up?

Unfortunately my backyard is decorated with river rock all around the fence line. I can't take them out because we don't own the house. Our 8 month old puppy has taken to playing with them, I'm scared she's going to eat one or break her teeth on them.

It's also a problem because she likes digging them up, so we end up with little rock holes in the yard. It's never in the same place twice so burying poop doesn't help.

She gets exercise, and plenty of outdoor toys, and we can't be outside with her all the time. Any ideas?

Make a loud annoying noise or blow a wistle when she diggs-if you do this every time, she will associate the noise to the digginf and stop. You can also ask the breeder, a longtime volunteer or the pet behaviorist at a shelter or someone who works at a pet shop or a trainer for advice. petco and petsmart almost always have trainers there during the afternoon so you can ask them. Also, look it up on the internet-Ceaser milan is the guy that is always on oprah, look up his website.

Good Luck!
Reply:Consult with a local dog training expert as they have a wealth of knowledge to help you out.
Reply:try spraying the rocks with 1/2 water and 1/2 clorox bleach. she won't like the smell and that usually takes care of the problem
Reply:big puppy or small puppy? what kind of dog is she?

get her hard like toys the same size of the rocks maybe and hide them so she has to find them maybe lol
Reply:if you can't go out with her don't put her out....also try putting up some kind of fenceing inside the yard so that she doesn't get to them or talking to your land loard about it
Reply:there are sprays you can get to deter her. have you tried finding a toy that is similar in weight and size as the rocks? positive reinforcement , she gets a trea when she palys with her toy and not the rocks? supervised outside time? thats all ive got
Reply:Try just telling her "no" and "bad" when she does that. I have 4 dogs and one had the same problem. It may take a while though...
Reply:spray them with something like pets away, safe for your pup and decor. good luck: hes just being playful.
