My PUPPY has bad breath!!!???

Recently, I've noticed that my 5 month old puppy had very bad-smelling breath. No, she doesn't eat feces or vomit, and I think she's gone through her teething stage, how long does the teething stage last? Anyway, why dose she have so bad smelling breath? I give her dental bones and chews, and clean her teeth almost every day, because of the rancid smell. Also, I mainly feed her Science-Diet dry dog food, for lunch and dinner. But, in the morning I feed her Science-diet wet dog food for puppies. What could be the problem?

My PUPPY has bad breath!!!???
All puppies normally have "bad breath" that may smell like skunk or something gassy... Could just be the normal Puppy Breath..

Try Stop feeding her the wet foot for a while and just stick with dry. I'd say it could be the wet food helping it because the dry food helps clean teeth of tartar and plaque, moist just helps it build up... For a dog of mine(Sheba), I used Breath Busters(pedigree) dog treats..

If the bad breath keeps up, take her to the vet.

Goodluck!

I fed my pups pedigree puppy healthy morsels, but they got dry treats and rope toys too. Healthy morsels has Crunchy AND moist bits(wth mother's milk), so it's evened out. Then when they get older, They go to dry food.

Oh, and rope toys are the best too, they clean their teeth AND have fun^_^
Reply:Talk to a vet.

It may be because of the food you feed her, or there may be something wrong with her teeth/gums. The vet can help.
Reply:I don't really know, but I think you should take her to the vet. It will be worth it, dude/dudette
Reply:Make sure to feed your dog only hard dog food. That will help keep its teeth clean. And, don't french kiss your dog anymore, then you won't know about its breath. By the way, dogs lick lots of disgusting things. :o)
Reply:Next time she is at the vet make sure and have her checked out; or give your vet a call. We have a dog with bad breath that has something called mega-esophagus (a serious medical problem) so it is important that you talk to your vet.

There are drops you can add to her food or tablets you can give orally that will help, sometimes the bad smell is actually coming from the esophagus or stomach instead of mouth.
Reply:I used to feed my dog science diet with salmon oil but between the smell of the food and the smell of his breath I couldn't take it any more! I had to switch him. But besides food, your puppy could have something wrong with his gums and teeth or it could be a stomach disorder. If changing food doesn't wok get the vet to check him out. Puppies don't usually have bad breath
Reply:Pretty much all animals have bad breath but she could have an infection or disease in her mouth of some sort so I would go to the vets if you are brushing her teeth every day and giving her that type of food. Good Luck
