My Shih Tzu has some Teeth underbite?

My Mom calls it an underbite...

Well, the bottom of her jaw is about an inch more out than the top of it, and the bottom of her teeth some out out of her mouth.

She is a Shih Tzu puppy, 3 months old, is this normal?

My Shih Tzu has some Teeth underbite?
Yes it is pretty normal for shih tzus.. Check her teeth to make sure she ahs not retained any baby teeth behind her adult teeth though.

I have a 8 month old and she has 2 rows of teeth on the bottom causing it to protrude more than normal. When I have her spayed i will have them remove the extra teeth.

I bought her from a breeder, and now consider her a rescue, she has really bad hips, they pop out constantly. She is the best dog too!

Turns out the "breeder" I bought her from got her from a friend, a whole litter was bought by the friend from an auction!!! The true breeder who sold the pups at auction is a known puppy mill.

It makes me sick and angry.. But I adore Lacey..I have had her barely a month. She was almost 7 months when I got her..

Anyhow the under bite is normal in shih tzus..But i would have the vet take a look anyhow..
Reply:yes it is quite normal and it gives the dog a smiley effect, I wouldn't be too worried about this unless your pup has troubles eating
Reply:LOL!

My Doberman has this too, she is fine, just funny teeth!
Reply:Well I don't know if it's "normal" but my Shih Tzu is over 8 and he has a horrible underbite... He has always had it too... I know others that have it also.. I have heard it comes from not so good breading lines.. I am sure she is still cute as ever though, I know mine is! ;)
Reply:it's very common in the breed.
Reply:I have owned two Shih Tzus and they have both had underbites...its cute really.
Reply:yes it is normal. I have a shih tzu as well and he is formed that way in his mouth too. Just be careful not to pull on his toys while they are in his mouth......Teeth problems then for sure and they are all sensitive to chicken products..be aware!
Reply:Here I go again.

Research the Shih Tzu breed at: www.akc.org

...Polly want a cracker, AWK!
Reply:An underbite is part of the Shih Tzu standard, and in fact a well bred Shih Tzu will have an underbite. Mine has one. You can look at the AKC breed standard at http://www.akc.org/breeds/shih_tzu/index...

It says the bite should be undershot. Congratulations on choosing a wonderful breed - they are the perfect companions!
