Puppy age question?

My puppy is somewhere between 3.5-5 months of age but am trying to figure out closer to his actual age. He has some of his baby teeth , but not all. His side teeth are all missing now as the adult ones will soon start to come in.

He is a German Shepherd (mostly) and about 12kg (24 pds).

Can you also tell me about how big it might get based on the info. i have provided.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO ASK THE VET - i live in India and the one where i live doesn't seem to know more than what i have said abotu that age.

Puppy age question?
My Gsds have had all their adult teeth by 4 mos and his size would be almost imp to get right as you don't know what he is mixed with. But 24lbs at say 4 mos, I would guess 65-70lbs. Poor nutrition could delay his tooth development and size so if he isn't eating a quality dog food that would change the equation too.
Reply:My experience has shown that most vets don't know how to tell their age to any real accuracy. It's not like counting the rings in a tree trunk.

You have his age down to within a month, isn't that good enough?

I found a stray and the best the vet could do was about plus or minus 1 year.
Reply:sounds like about 4 + months. The canines come in around 6 mos.

How big he will get depends a lot on heredity, quality of his diet, %26amp; his overall health so there is no way to forcast that.
Reply:I have male german shepherds, but I breed the large german shepherds, so there is quite a difference in size. Mine look more like Rin Tin Tin and less like the overly slanted back of some shepherds today. In my experience with german shepherds, your puppy sounds closer to the 5 months, I'm basing that on the teeth. Although that also varies from dog to dog. My smallest male goes about 110 lbs.; if your dog is close to 5 months, it doesn't sound like he will get close to the 110 lbs range.
Reply:According to the AKC in the U.S.:

The desired height for males at the top of the highest point of the shoulder blade is 24 to 26 inches; and for bitches, 22 to 24 inches.

Weight can be from 60 to 130#.

By his current weight, I'd guess he'll be 80 to 100#
Reply:Sounds like he is closer to 5mos than 3mos old just from the teeth. If the dog is a mix its really hard to tell how large it will get. Being GSD mix its likely to be larger than 40lbs. Unless its mixed with dach, beagle, you know something small. Dogs stop growing up at abt 1yr, then they start filling out.
