Help, my puppy lost a tooth, is this normal??

My dog is 4 1/2 months old (he a german shorthaired pointer). I playing fetch with the frisbee and noticed slobbery blood on it, so i took it away... thought that it may have been scraping the roof of his mouth. 20 minutes later we were playing fetch with the ball and noticed blood on that a few minutes in to it. Then there was a tooth on the ground and it looks like it came out from the root of his mouth. I think its one of the back ones cause it doesnt look like any of the front ones are missing. Hes a healthy and happy dog, besides this one issue.

Is this normal?

Will he loose more, if so how many?

Will he swallow them too?

Is he in pain? ... hes not whinning or anything?

And what toys should i let him chew on?

Help, my puppy lost a tooth, is this normal??
Yes it's normal.

He will lose all his baby teeth, but most of them you wont notice because

YES he will swallow them and that's normal. When my puppy lost his teeth, he mostly lost them at night, so I'd hear him licking profusely all night.

His gums hurt just like a baby's would when he is teething.

Take a face towel, wet it and freeze it. The coolness with ease his gums. There are also plenty of toys marketed out there to help with teething.
Reply:Puppies loose their teeth and grow new permanent ones just as humans do.
Reply:Yup, he will lose all his puppy teeth - just like you lose your baby teeth. He may well swallow some or most of them, it won't do him any harm.

Teething doesn't cause pain so much as discomfort - make sure he has strong rubber toys to chew on, rawhide chews are good too, and you can even buy special teething chews which you can put into the freezer first - the cold will help numb the gums.

You were quite lucky to find a tooth - with my last pup I came across only one of them - and that was because he spat it onto my foot... god knows what happened to all the others!
Reply:yes!!! dont worry
Reply:Yea they teeth just like babies.

Kong's are the best to help puppies you run water over it and freeze it. this calms them down and give them plenty of lil treats and dingo stick(hard but good for theyre teeth)

plus they swallow but it wont cause em any damage
Reply::o) I freaked out too when I started finding my dog's teeth in her crate. I had no idea that puppies lost all of their teeth...for some reason that info wasn't in the puppy book I bought when we got her. They swallow most of them, so he's probably lost some without you knowing.

There are lots of toys marked for teething puppies at the pet store. I think anything they can chew on will help soothe the discomfort. You should consider a puppy kong too!
