I need some advice for a new puppy?

i need advice on how to keep children under the age of 2 safe from the sharp teeth of a puppy, and how to keep a two month old puppy safe from the, pinching ,pulling, hitting, hands of a one year old.

and some advice or techniques on potty training a puppy, and good ways to introduce a new puppy to my older cats.

i know its alot lol but the advice will really be appreciated.

I need some advice for a new puppy?
Have one person hold the cat and one person hold the pup and let them sniff for a few seconds. then put them down and do not try to make them be friends. if the cat likes the pup, wonderful. if not, the cat will hiss and swat the first couple times the pup bugs it, so the pup will learn to not bug it really quick. i have always had cats and dogs together, sometimes they got along, sometimes not. its not something you can force. they will adjust very quickly.

take everyones advice on the crate, you will need it for a lot of things, like keeping the puppy away from baby and to keep it from peeing and pooping on the floor- the last thing you want is to clean up after 2 babies for forever!!

let the pup out a lot, on a leash for the first week or two. let it out after eating drinking sleeping playing. my puppy went about very 15 minutes, no lie, when i got him at 10 weeks. now he is 15 weeks and he is much better- he needs to poop 10 minutes to 2 hours after eating, i know its a big span but puppies are not as easy to predict as adult dogs. they look bloated when their tummies are very full- if you notice the pup is bloated, he's about to blow!! he can only hold it for a couple hours right now, so at night he will need to go a lot. what i did, which some people might not agree with but it works for me, is i put a small litterbox with puppy pads in it in the kennel at night, since his kennel is too big cuz he is a puppy we had room for this. this way we can ALL sleep peacefully through the night. some people might say it teahces him to go in his kennel, but i only put it there overnight or when i need to be out more than a few hours. dont put the puppy pads directly on the kennel floor- the litterbox is great cuz it creates a seperation of his sleeping and pottying area, whereas if the pads are right on the floor it just teaches him to go to that area to potty and he will probably still do it when you take the pads out, whereas when you take the litterbox out there is no seperate potty area so they wont do it. just remember there ill be A LOT of pee and poop in your house for a while and its A LOT of hard work for a while but one day they get it and its amazing. my beagle was being littertrained for the first couple weeks cuz im in alaska and he was too little to be out in the extreme cold here, and just 2 days ago we blocked the litterbox area and started outside training and already he is going to the door when he has to potty- granted he goes there looks at me and starts to go, but he is going to the door and looking at me to see if im going to take him out. at this rate he will be trained in a week.

spend some time with the puppy pulling his fur, pinching, etc., just being rough like a small child. every time he nips or does anything agressive, give him a light smack on the nose and say no sternly. this way he gets used to rough child play without hurting anyone because you are big and able to handle this. I had a friend and when he found out his wife was pregnant he spent lots of time doing this, and when the baby was born the dog was sooooo sweet and gentle and would not even show his teeth to the baby because he was used to the pinching pulling etc and knew not to be agressive.

show the children every day how to play with the puppy. take their hands and have them gently stroke the dog. if they are too rough, say no just like you would to the puppy, then show them again how to gently stroke it. always be part of the action when the kids and puppy are together, so that way there is no room for an accident.

it will be really nice for the puppy and kid to grow up together. they will have a strong bond and since they will both have endless energy they can tire each other out!

sorry this answer is so long, but i hope this helps in all your questions.
Reply:Train the puppy and children at the same time.

Potty training: take them out: as soon as they wake up, within 15 minutes after eating, when they wake up, after they've played a little, when they wake up, before you go to bed, and at least once during the night.
Reply:GET A BABY BOXER THEY DON'T DO MUCH ACCEPT SLEEP AND EAT AND WHINE TO GO OUTSIDE.
Reply:Add one thing to Pam's advice...get a crate for the puppy, and don't allow the pup and toddler to play unsupervised, if you do one or both will be hurt

The introduction to your cats depends on the temperament of the cats.. the puppy should be under your control to be sure the cat doesn't scratch the pups face when the pup tries to smell the cat, once their use to each other they should be ok
Reply:God bless ya. Ok, ya gotta train the two of them at the same time. Train the baby not to do that stuff and tell your dog NO when he goes to nip. And get a crate for potty training and to keep your puppy and child safe when u can't supervise. It would be a great investment.
