When do puppies start to eat puppy food?

my puppies have their teeth coming in and are jsut about 3 weeks old they are siberian huskies. So how will I know when they need to be feed and also would like to know when they will need to get their 1st shots?

When do puppies start to eat puppy food?
They can start eating dry puppy food soaked in warm water at 4 weeks then by about 6 weeks they should be able to eat it dry. Never feed them canned food. It is to rich for their little stomachs. For 1st shots they have to be 6wks, then you will go back at 9 and 12 wks for 2nd and 3rd shots then at 16wks they get there last set and that will include rabies, then they will be good on shots for a year.
Reply:Same With Mine! :) There Malti Poos, Anyways They Should Be Eating Dog Food Now, Give The The Wet Puppy Kind :] Hope i helped!
Reply:They should still be getting milk from the mother pup for about 3-5 more weeks and then you can moisten a good quality puppy food or even a low protein content (23%) adult food with water and offer that to them. Huskies are bigger dogs and they may benefit from not getting puppy food because of the higher protein content that can make their joints grow too fast and cause problems later in life. Don't moisten the food with milk as it can cause some stomach upset. They should go see the vet at about 6 weeks of age for a check up,worming and first set of shots. The vet will put you on a schedule from there.
Reply:I wuld start them off on puppy food now, i had to with my litter at 3 weeks. Feed them high quality puppy biscutes and a warmed puppy milk, leave to soak and mush up. They will play with it fall in it, but soon gett used to it. Also put a bowl of water down and rub a little on thir mouth to show them what it is.

They will need there vaccination by around 10 weeks, call a vet and they will advise you.

Good Luck
Reply:For me it was when i stopped drinking milk, and my first shots... let me think ... sometime before the second I recon now you come to mention it.

Nice yapping with you
Reply:In a week, you can start them on moistened dry puppy food or canned puppy food thinned with a little water ( or you can combine dry and canned.) Start them out on two meals a day,and increase to four as they are gradually weaned. Also, they will need shots at 8 ( 6 weeks if the mom has not been vaccinated),12,and 16 weeks, and they will need several wormings. You should take the pups and mom to the vet for worming and a vet check, and please have the mother dog spayed,as if you don't know when to feed puppies or if they need shots, then you really should not be breeding dogs.
Reply:wet food is best at 4 weeks.. we mix puppy chow and puppy formula first so it's wet and soft

feed every 2 hours at first, then 6 times a day

dry food at 6 weeks

this can be left out for them to eat

first shots at 6 to 8 weeks, with a month between each of the 3 boosters.
Reply:Why did you breed your dog if you have to ask such simple questions? Your vet should have told you that. Also if you have an adult dog that had puppies, you would know the shot schedule. Generally they get them at 6-8, 9-12, 12-16 weeks of age. Depends on the vet some prefer spacing them out further than others. Momma should be feeding them so you shouldn't worry about that just now. My puppy was slowly weaned beginning at 5 weeks until a few days before we picked him up at 8 weeks. Do you at least have a book about the breed that you can reference? Breed specific books have tons of information on whelping, training, and caring for your dog. If you don;t have one it would be a good idea to get one.
Reply:You starts weening the pups from the mother at 4 weeks and also start dry food.

The puppies should have been examined by the vet when they were first born. If you haven't done that yet you need to do so. The will recieve their first shots, fecol exams, and heartworm medication. See the vet.
Reply:usually around 7 to 8 weeks of age.
